John Murphy
Owner / Trainer
John Murphy, founder of Lucky M Kennels, grew up in Sugar Land, TX, and developed a lifelong passion for dogs and the outdoors. While attending the University of Mississippi, John began working with British labradors at the renowned Wildrose Kennels. After graduating, he returned to Texas to help establish and operate Wildrose Kennels Texas under the guidance of Guy Billups. With over a decade of experience in training retrievers, John has built a reputation for producing well-mannered, field-ready dogs. He owns two British labs of his own, Mojo and Honey, who are both shining examples of his training philosophy. In 2024, John, his wife Abby, and their daughter Audrey relocated to Maypearl, Texas, where they launched Lucky M Kennels in 2025 - a facility dedicated to quality retriever training and top-notch boarding services.
